Testing at the Conference

The Institute for Certification of Computing Professionals (ICCP) has approved this program for awarding contact hours to be credited to recertification records for continuing education. 120 hours are required for recertification, and recertification must be done every three years. Submit your professional development hours here for recertification.

ICCP examinations for the Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) will be held at the conference. The Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) IS THE INDUSTRY STANDARD designation for Data Management professionals, providing an independent, qualified and accurate assessment of their comprehension and knowledge of Data Management, which can be used to enhance personal career development and advancement. Additional information about the CDMP is available from DAMA.

If you are starting your CDMP in 2011, there are new exam requirements: IS Core (mandatory), Data Management Core (mandatory) and one data exam of your choice, e.g. Data Development, Data Governance & Stewardship, Data Operations (DBA), Data and Information Quality, Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence and Analytics, or Zachman Enterprise Architecture Framework2.

The Data Governance & Stewardship exam is being offered as a beta exam at this conference. The DAMA-DMBOK was one of the many sources used in exam development. The revised IS Core exam is also being offered as a beta exam at this conference.

This beta exam is FREE to take. You will have to fill out an application, but no payment is expected unless you are taking other exams and are applying this exam towards the CDMP payable to the ICCP.

Beta exams are similar to regular exams as each exam contains 100 multiple choice questions plus 10 extra beta questions (110 questions in total) to be completed in 90 minutes. However, the scores have to be reviewed and adjusted by the DAMA / ICCP team after all the results have been received. Scores may be adjusted upwards, but will NOT be adjusted downwards on review of the performance of questions. Unadjusted scores are immediately available after the exam has been completed. Official scores will be available after the DAMA / ICCP team meets again. Official profiles will only go out for paid exams. The ICCP office anticipates that all Data Governance beta exam testers will have their scores by August 31, 2011. Contact the ICCP if you have not received your scores by August 31, 2011.

You can also use these exams for conversion ($285 regular or $195 beta exam) to recertification / professional development credits, if you already have a CDMP. For example, if you score 70% or higher on a beta or regular exam, you have the equivalent of 60 recertification / professional development credits (you need 120 hours over three years). If you scored between 60% – 69%, this score is worth 30 credits. A score between 50% – 59% is worth 20 credits, and a score less than 50% is worth 0 credits.

As an added bonus at Enterprise Data World 2011, all exam candidates can take the exams on a “pay if you pass” basis.  ICCP's 2011 DAMA member rate is $285 for each exam ($350 for non members), paid only if you pass at 50% correct or better. This applies to all exams other than beta exams, e.g. IS Core exam.

You will need to bring your own laptop. The exams run off a USB drive. You may take an exam of choice during any of these open exam sessions. Three exams are required for the CDMP.

Performance Profile

For paid exams, all candidates will receive a detailed official performance profile if they pass over the 50% level. The performance profile details how well they did on what sections. It is a great tool for identifying strengths and weaknesses. It presents a gap analysis between what a candidate knows and what he/she does not know.
